Our History
Where We Started Out
Powerhouse Productions started our Performing Arts Company in 1992. Founder Despina Marie, wanted to provide the Christian community with inspirational theater where they could enjoy professional performance arts with a wholesome message. She wrote her first play with friend Denneti Wynn, together they produced a decade of work before pursuing other endeavors independently. Despina has been nominated for multiple prestigious playwright and acting awards. Powerhouse has been known for excellence professionalism and a big heart, often donating a portion of their proceeds to charitable organizations. In 2016 Despina’s daughter Emily Renee Hawkins stepped up to assume the role of co-director and character development; with rave reviews her responsibilities over the next two years grew exponentially and in 2018, Emily became a Legacy Carrier as co-owner of Powerhouse Productions . Our background and experience with theatrical productions in front of live audiences makes our talented staff & crew one of the best in the business. Read on to learn more about us.

Not Broken is an adaptation of the autobiography of playwright Despina Marie's story of overcoming domestic violence. Slotted for 2022 keep an eye out for auditions.
